The Industrial Automation Group of Advantech (Cincinnati, OH) introduces two new ADAM analog input modules, the ADAM-5017P and ADAM-5018P. The ADAM-5017P has eight different independent configuration channels, supports power reverse, and has a wide unipolar or bipolar input range. The ADAM-5018P is a thermocouple input module that supports seven input ranges and types (J,K,T,E,R,S,B), and will filter functions to remove any unreasonable range.

Both will support the High Common Mode function, which means channel-to-channel differential voltages can be up to 200VDC. Now more measurements, such as battery or power transducer/transmitter measurements, can be achieved. They also have overvoltage protection to avoid ranges ±60 VDC that protects the modules from power surges. A built-in TVS/ESD protection is to protect high-density, miniaturization, and complex equipment. TVS diodes avoid ESD and protect the electronic components.

The ADAM-5017P and ADAM-5018P are both ADAM-5550 series expansion modules that are supported by the ADAM.Net Utility. In the Facility and Machine Automation market, these modules can withstand harsh requirements and provide ideal and cost-effective options.
