ANSYS Launches Release 16.0

The update includes advancements for structures, fluids, electronics and systems engineering platforms.

ANSYS, a provider of simulation platforms, has released ANSYS 16.0. This version includes advancements across the company’s entire portfolio — including structures, fluids, electronics and systems engineering solutions — enabling engineers to validate complete virtual prototypes, the company states.

Major features in version 16.0 include connected electronic device verification, simulation capabilities for the entire spectrum of structural materials, streamlined fluid dynamics simulation as well as model-based systems and embedded software development.

For electronics, the company is introducing the ANSYS Electronics Desktop. This interface gathers electromagnetic, circuit and systems analysis into a single environment. Users can also create 3D components and add them into larger electronic assemblies.

ANSYS 16.0 has new capabilities for materials. Composite designs and tools have been added to the platform, in addition to solutions for elastomers, sheet metal and plate steel. Adaptive remeshing is now added to the software in addition to updated capabilities for contact simulation between multiple parts.

Reduced fluid dynamics simulation time is also a part of this release. The new adjoint designer can now use the solver and model up to 50 million cells. The company states fluid dynamics simulation time is reduced by 40%.

For model-based systems and embedded software development, version 16.0 has extended modeling capabilities, enhanced collaboration and reduced development.

Additionally, ANSYS is launching ANSYS AIM, a simulation environment that offers a guided simulation process paradigm that includes automation and opportunities for customization for multiphysics.
