ANSYS Updates Simulation Portfolio

ANSYS 16.2 includes more tools for virtually prototyping system-level components.

ANSYS has updated its main simulation portfolio with the release of ANSYS 16.2. In this version, the company states, engineers can now create virtual prototypes of complete systems, allowing them to make strides in next-generation products.

Updated modules in version 16.2 include Simplorer and AIM. Simplorer can now assemble and simulated electrical, electronic, thermo-fluid, mechanical and embedded software components. With AIM, users can access capabilities for multiphysics and systems such as heat transfer, thermal stress, gas flows and structural deformation in one domain.

Added to the ANSYS platform is the SCADE Systems Avionics Package. This automates the development of embedded software systems for avionics. According to a company press release, it delivers out-of-the-box templates for design systems that are compliant with standard avionic protocols and operating systems. These include ARINC 653, ARINC 429 and  AFDX configurations.

Additionally, new functionalities have been to the Workbench platform and ANSYS Customization Toolkit to accelerate overall design.

“ANSYS customers are already solving component and sub-system problems using the most advanced software available. But with today’s release of ANSYS 16.2, they expand to the system level,” said Jim Cashman, ANSYS president and CEO. “We’re offering engineers the most advanced engineering solution technologies on the market to predict real-world product performance using accurate, fast and reliable simulation. By leveraging these new capabilities, enterprises will gain competitive advantage in a competitive market.”
