Apple Picks MathType for its iWork ‘09 Suite

Design Science (Long Beach, CA) announced thatApple has chosen MathType as the equation editor for its new iWork ‘09 suite ofapplications. MathType works with all three iWork applications: Pages (wordprocessor), Keynote (presentation), and Numbers(spreadsheet).

It isexpected that many Mac users with existing Microsoft Office documents containingMathType or Equation Editor equations, can import them into the new iWorkapplications and the equations will remain editable.

MathTypehas long been known as the professional version of the Equation Editor inMicrosoft Office, used by millions of educators, scientists, and engineers tocreate papers and presentations with textbook-quality equations. According toscientific and technical publishers, more than 85 percent of submittedmanuscripts containing mathematical notation are Microsoft Word documents withMathType or Equation Editor equations. Now that MathType works with Apple’siWork, coverage of the most popular word processing and presentationapplications on Mac and Windows is virtually complete.

Anyone candownload MathType from the Design Science website and try it free for 30 days.Otherwise, it costs $57 for academic users, $97 for non-academic users; upgradesare $37 for academic users and $49 for non-academic users.
