Autodesk Makes Design Software Available to Schools Worldwide

Autodesk Inc. has made its design, engineering and entertainment software available to students, instructors and schools worldwide. This enables more than 680 million students and teachers from over 800,000 secondary and post-secondary schools to take advantage of the company’s programs, a press release states.

Following the announcement as part of President Obama’s ConnectED initiative, Autodesk has expanded free access to its applications to institutions across Asia Pacific and Europe. This new expansion will include 188 countries and the company is helping schools move to the cloud with its suite of next-generation cloud based design products.

With this program, students as young as 13 years old are using Fusion 360 to create and 3D print prosthetics and college students are designing environmentally sustainable homes.

Autodesk is also offering free project-based learning content and resources in addition to the integration of its software into curricula.

“The way we make things is changing rapidly, and we need a workforce ready to design for new manufacturing and construction techniques. By providing free professional design tools to students, faculty members and academic institutions around the world, we’re helping get industry ready for the next phase,” said Carl Bass, CEO, Autodesk.
