AVX Corporation Introduces SpiTAN IV

The platform can provide electrical and performance characteristics for capacitors.

AVX Corporation, a manufacturer of passive components, has introduced a new Web-based simulation tool for its capacitors. The tool features data from the company’s PSpice Models and S-Parameters S2P software libraries, and is compatible for tantalum, polymer and niobium oxide capacitors.

The SpiTAN IV software, according to the company, provides users with a user-friendly program for reviewing critical electrical and performance characteristics for individual part numbers. Users can access data such as capacitance, ESR, DF, impedance, ripple voltage and ripple currents. Serial and SHUNT S-parameters charts can also be printed with a single click.

“The new SpiTAN IV online simulation software provides engineers with an easy way to investigate capacitor characteristics critical to designing-in the optimum component for a specific application,” said Mitch Weaver, member of the technical staff at AVX. “Thanks to its interactive capabilities, its wide range of tantalum, polymer, and niobium oxide capacitor part numbers, and its continual updates and constant availability, SpiTAN IV delivers all of the criteria necessary to ensure rapid and reliable capacitor design-ins.”
