Building on the success of the Infinity WF 36 ($14,790) scanner, BÖWE BELL + HOWELL (Wheeling, IL) is now shipping a 42-in. ($22,490) and a 48-in. ($27,990) model of its wide-format scanner.

Designed to convert documents up to 42- and 48-in. wide (depending on the scanner model)  into digital images with speed and accuracy, the new Infinity WF 42 and Infinity WF 48 can scan in bitonal, grayscale, and color. Both models can reach rated speeds up to 6.1 inches per second (ips) in color at 300dpi, and up to 6.9 ips in bitonal at 400dpi.

Infinity WF scanners are solutions for geographic information systems (GIS), government agencies, and AEC firms seeking to reproduce large-scale documents such as maps, land surveys, and architectural drawings.

All Infinity models produce clear digital images with advanced SharpShooter CCD cameras. The cameras combined with an LED light source allow users to extrapolate image resolutions up to 1200dpi. The LED lights last the life of the scanner and help produce consistently crisp images.

An improved touch screen allows users to zoom in on and navigate scanned images. Bundled scanning software allows users to quickly and easily change scanner settings,  and select both the scan location and file output type.

Other features include a smooth transport system and Auto Width Detection technology,  which allows users to pass documents through the middle of the scanner table,  preventing fraying or damage to the document. Image Rotation allows users to feed a large document lengthwise and then rotate the scanned image to the proper orientation.

The network capability of Infinity WF ensures accessibility. Users do not have to download drivers or software and can send files directly from the scanner to an FTP server, printer, folder, e-mail, or USB (an option available for purchase).

Infinity WF ships with a scanner stand, assembly tools, software for image capture and enhancement, network and crossover cables, a calibration kit, a cleaning cloth,  and an installation guide. As a network scanner, Infinity does not require a dedicated PC.
