InduKey (Treuen, Germany) is offering the TKS-105a-TB38-MODUL-USBPORT, which allows the connection of USB devices to the system directly via the built-in keyboard. A sealed surface with an integrated front USB port (USB version 1.1) is described as robust. The combination allows for the simple connection of external, electronic devices to a system, directly via the keyboard.

This solves the problem of the spatial division between operating unit and computer. Frequently, the computer systems a situated behind closed panels or are difficult to access for connecting USB devices (calibration or measuring devices, storage media and others). Due to a sealing cap the USB port fulfils a high industrial protection degree of IP65 and is, consequently, resistant to dust and spray water.

The TKS-105a-TB38-MODUL-USBPORT will be delivered as a front installation version with rearward threaded bolts. A metal front panel with a foil-coated surface provides for high mechanical resistance as well as the easy cleansing and disinfection of the keyboard. Mechanic short-stroke keys ensure a pleasant switching feel. An integrated 38mm plastic trackball serves as cursor control.

Optionally,  the device can be delivered in a version with circumferential protective edge. This is made possible by a deeper cutting in of the carrier plate for the keyboard.

As standard the keyboard is available with German or U.S. layout as well as with PS/2 or USB connectors. In addition, the integration of a USB port is available as a special version for foil-coated industrial keyboards.
