CCE announced that in response to a growing demand from customers in the CAE space, it has successfully completed porting of its 3D CAD interoperability technology to Linux platforms.

“Over the years, we have noticed rapid proliferation of Linux in a wide base of engineering software, especially in CAE,” said CCE’s vice president of sales and marketing Vinay Wagle. “With the expansion of our technology to support Linux platforms, we offer a complete portfolio of the industry’s most extensive 3D CAD read and write interoperability technology, and address a direct need of the CAE software market.”

Currently, the libraries for Red Hat and SUSE Linux platforms are being distributed to internal teams and general availability is slated for July 1, 2013.

File formats currently supported by CCE’s interoperability technology includes CATIA V4, CATIA V5, CATIA V6, NX, SolidWorks, Pro/E (Creo), JT, Solid Edge, Parasolid, IGES, STEP and 3D PDF.
