Blue Ridge Numerics (Charlottesville, VA)  announced CFdesign v10 upfront CFD software, designed for engineers using CAD-driven tools that optimize fluid flow and thermal performance during the digital design phase.

CFdesign v10 focuses on shortening the learning curve for first-timers and the occasional user while adding industrial-strength problem-solving capabilities,  including cavitating flow prediction and thermo-electric cooler analysis.

With the release of v10, CFdesign offers an optional high performance computing (HPC)  module that decreases the time required to achieve flow and thermal solutions. The new module distributes the computational load of CFD simulations across a cluster of processors networked by a Microsoft Windows HPC Server.

CFdesign v10 is said to remove the mystery of CFD using clear-cut navigation and CAD associativity as well as simple setup and quick solutions. Property tables provide a clear-cut roadmap for setting up, launching, and visualizing simulations. CFdesign v10 uses the intelligence built into the CAD model,  including model orientation, part colors, background color, part names,  material properties, and mouse functions.

The multi-view mode supports design studies with four independent, interactive views into product performance. CFdesign v10 makes it fast and easy to drill into analyses and extract the vital information for decision-making. The new multi-view mode facilitates the review of different analysis results in up to four independent views. Synchronous navigation allows the simulation model in each view to be rotated, zoomed, and explored.

Features include Interactive Void Filling, External Volume Creation, Flow Innovation,  and Thermal Management Innovation. CFdesign v10 includes a library of manufacturer-supplied thermo-electric cooling components to choose from plus users can easily define a new component using the material editor. Other features include a Quick Forced Convection option, the Quick Natural Convection option, and CAD System Support in which CFdesign v10 is available as an integrated, associative solution for Autodesk Inventor, CATIA, CoCreate, NX, Pro/ENGINEER,  SolidWorks, Solid Edge, and SpaceClaim. Plus, CFdesign v10 operates on Windows XP 32, XP 64, Vista 32, and Vista 64.
