CIMdata has published a new paper that highlights capabilities for digital prototyping and strategies to make simulation available to a much wider audience.

The paper, Breaking Down the Barriers to Simulation “Autodesk Broadens Simulation Offerings, focuses on Autodesk and the company’s suite of products, encompassing engineering, architecture, construction,  manufacturing, and media and entertainment. Autodesk has made a substantial investment in acquiring and developing physics-based simulation technology and their offering now covers a range of capabilities similar to those of other major simulation solution providers.

Autodesk is responding to the need for simulation-driven design, comments Keith Meintjes, CIMdatas Simulation and Analysis practice manager. This requires an integrated suite of multi-physics simulation applications, coupled with optimization and capable, parametric,  geometry tools.

While Autodesk fully supports the traditional product development and simulation processes, CIMdata believes the company’s plan to “democratize” simulation as an always-on capability for non-experts is “very interesting.”
