CNC Software Releases Mastercam X8

Improvements include Dynamic Motion technology, toolpath upgrades and user interface changes.

CNC Software has launched Mastercam X8. This release includes a new suite of programming tools for speed, automation and efficiency in machining jobs. New features include enhanced Solids capabilities, user interface changes as well as Usability/Workflow improvements.

X8 also includes Dynamic Motion technology. This, according to the company, is a new approach to creating toolpaths that follows a proprietary and sophisticated set of rules. Dynamic toolpaths not only calculate the area where metal is to be removed, but also account for the changing nature of the material throughout machining.

The Solids workflow has been completely reworked for usability and editing capabilities. New features include Live Preview, hands-on Drag Controls and Direct Editing.

For the user interface, panels can now be automatically hidden, docked on the side of the window or placed outside Mastercam. The graphics display has also been upgraded to provide cleaner aesthetics.

Additional features in Mastercam X8 include 2D toolpath enhancements, Multi-axis roughing, inclusion of Lathe toolpaths in stock model operations and a new Contour Roughing toolpath.
