COMSOL Conference 2008 to be Held in Boston October 9-11

Held on October 9-11, 2008, at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, the COMSOL Conference 2008 Boston gathers engineers interested in viewing the state-of-the-art in multiphysics simulation and hearing keynote presentations from top scientists and engineers from many different industries. Included in the program are user presentations,  minicourses, exhibits, and many opportunities to network with colleagues.

Keynote presenters include:

• Iouri Balachov, Senior Scientist, SRI International who will speak on the topic, Clean Energy Technologies: Growing Need for Multiphysics Modeling;
• Naomi J. Halas, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering,  Chemistry, and Bioengineering, RiceUniversity, to speak on “Optics at the nanoscale: merging nanoparticles with light;”
• Emily Nelson, Senior Research Engineer, Computational Multiphysics Laboratory, NASA Glenn Research Center on the topic, “COMSOL Grab Bag: How to use a versatile CFD code to model interesting problems from cryogenic storage to biofuel production;”
• John Dunec, Branch Manager, COMSOL, Inc., Palo Alto;  “COMSOL Multiphysics – The Leading Edge in Simulation”
• Svante Littmarck, President and CEO, COMSOL, Inc.; “Multiphysics 2009”
• Markus Zahn, Professor and VI-A Program Director of Electrical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Nonlinear Ferrohydrodynamics of Magnetic Fluids.
 

The suite of hands-on minicourses covers 17 topics, among them “Introduction to COMSOL Multiphysics,” “CAD Importing and Meshing,”  “Post-processing and Visualization,” “Biomedical Engineering,” “Microfluidics,”  and “MEMS Simulation.” Attendees can choose as many courses as they would like and are invited to bring their own laptop computers and receive a fee trial of COMSOL. Note: Seating and computer-for-loan capacity is limited and available on a first-come first-serve basis.
