Creganna design and component solutions for the proximal end of the hypotube or delivery device shaft.
Creganna Medical Devices, with corporate offices in Galway,Ireland, is a designer and manufacturer of hypotube-based device shafts, which serve as the conduit between physicians and medical devices during transcatheter procedures. Creganna has launched Meridian Technology, a new database, facilitated by finite element analysis, and rapid prototyping design tool, which allow product designers to determine the optimum complex cut geometry for metal shafts to optimize flexibility, torque transmission, and resistance to external compression. With Meridian Technology, physical prototypes of metal shafts that meet performance requirements can now be manufactured within days.

“Meridian Technology defines a new era in the design of metal delivery shafts,” said Michael Howe, Manager of the Creganna Innovation Centre. “We have virtually eliminated the design bottleneck that is associated with the traditional iterative design cycle of prototyping and testing.”

Creganna creates, designs, and builds products and technologies for medical device and life science companies, including solutions for catheter and specialty needle applications and components and sub-assemblies in a range of metals, polymers, and composite materials. The company was recognized at the Irish Medical Device Association’s 2007 Excellence Awards for its successful implementation of a lean manufacturing program.

Creganna Medical Devices has manufacturing facilities in Galway, Ireland,  and Marlborough, Massachusetts. For further details, visit creganna.com.
