Dassault Systèmes Announces SolidWorks Education Edition 2014-2015

The newest edition of the suite includes teaching guides, robot assembly model libraries and SolidWorks Simulation Premium.

Dassault Systèmes, a provider of 3D design software has announced SolidWorks Education Edition 2014-2015 and that its community of certified users, educators and administrators has passed 100,000 members.

As part of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, this version includes tools and enhancements to improve teacher efficiency, shorten student design processes, increase team collaboration and enable educational productivity, the company states.

The SolidWorks Education 2014-2015 applications portfolio has additions such as:

  • Teaching guides and lessons with new content for developing STEM curriculums.
  • Library of robot assembly models for competitive teams in FIRST robotics and other platforms such as LEGO, TETRIS and MATRIX.
  • Path Dimension for designing chains and belts for robot and FSAE teams.
  • SolidWorks Simulation Premium for interactive FEA (finite element analysis) results.
  • Curve-Driven Patterns enables faster and easier creation of patterns, such as chains and conveyor systems.
  • Assembly Explode offers rotational explode to components and allows for clear and effective communication of product assembly processes on drawings and in animations.
  • SolidWorks Electrical includes tools to create electrical projects starting with 2D system schematics and ending with 3D routing and cabling interconnecting components.

Qualified schools are given SolidWorks Student Edition licenses at no charge for use by students inside the classroom. Additionally, schools with an subscription can become a Certified SolidWorks Academic Exam Provider.
