Simpack 2018 from Dassault Systèmes is a general purpose multibody simulation (MBS) software used for the dynamic analysis of any mechanical or mechatronic system. It enables engineers to generate and solve virtual 3D models to predict and visualize motion, coupling forces and stresses.

From initial concept designs, through to production and redesigns, Simpack is used to help engineers fully comprehend and optimize systems, reduce the need for physical prototyping, reduce time-to-market and to improve product quality and lifespan, the company reports.

The Simpack 2018 product portfolio includes Simpack Pre; Simpack Post; Simpack Solve; Simpack Wizard and 40+ application specific Simpack Pre add-on products, for example, Simpack Automotive, Simpack Rail, Simpack Flex Modal (flexible body integration), Simpack Gear Pair, Simpack EHD and Simpack Realtime.

General Functionality

The product includes improved handling of Solver Settings Dialog; data probe for 3D element specific plots; FMI 2.0 support for FMU Export for Co-Simulation; direct editing in Comparison dialog; computed values in Data Explorer and pdf file generation from GUI and Scripting.

Simpack Post features improved Copy/Paste for Filters and Curve Values; data probe for 3D Diagrams; torque display via toroids and improved contouring for 3D diagrams and animations. Simpack Solver offers potential and dissipation energy in eigenvalue analysis.

For general modeling elements, there is the Force Element 225 ‘Gear Pair’ optional Weber/Banaschek stiffness function and a new semi-hertzian contact method for cam-roller applications.

For elasto-hydrodynamic bearings, there is new element type Hydodynamic Bearings and support of planar bearings (for example, axial thrust bearings).

Simpack Automotive includes an update to TMEasy 5.1 and enhanced road surface transition functionality during runtime and full support of Virtual Suspension functionality.
