DEFORM Allows Engineers to Analyze Mechanical Joining Processes

Scientific Forming Technologies Corporation (SFTC) has developed the DEFORM System.  DEFORM can simulate hot and cold metal forming processes, including cold heading, extrusion, drawing, and upsetting. 

Fastener and precision cold forming manufacturers are also using DEFORM to simulate mechanical joining processes including riveting,  bolting, and clinching.  DEFORM can predict the shape of each object, installation load, torque, joint strength,  and tool stress. A range of mechanical joining applications can be modeled 

DEFORM-3D is a flexible and open system capable of analyzing a range of deformation, thermal and microstructural processes requiring three-dimensional modeling. DEFORM-2D can be used when a two-dimensional (axisymmetric or plane strain) solution is appropriate.

  DEFORM-F3 is a 3D modeling system capable of analyzing forging, cold heading, extrusion, drawing,  upsetting, and other common processes. DEFORM-F2 can be used for axisymmetric (round) and plane strain cases.

DEFORM-HT can be licensed as a stand-alone program to simulate heat treatment processes and microstructure development. Alternatively, the Microstructure Module can be added to a DEFORM-2D or DEFORM-3D license to enable microstructure development during deformation.
