Dremel Debuts Dremel 3D Idea Builder

The printer is equipped with a full color touch screen and on-board print software for stand-alone operation

Dremel has introduced the Dremel 3D Idea Builder, a device it calls the most user-friendly 3D printing experience on the market. The company has also formed a partnership with Autodesk that enables it to provide users free, print-ready models and simple design tools.

Key features of the Idea Builder include easy-to-use functionality, a full-featured tool as well as being family and environmentally friendly, the company states. The printer is equipped with a full color touch screen and on-board print software for stand-alone operation, and users can choose from 10 colors of PLA (polylactic acid) filament to make objects.

“This is just the beginning for us,” said John Kavanagh, president of Dremel. “The Dremel 3D model portfolio will continue to grow with the help of Autodesk 123D apps and the models we will curate from our community. Additionally, we’ll be offering an increased number of customizers on our site that will further empower people to develop and personalize projects of their own. Long-term, the partnership with Autodesk will allow us to bring together hardware and software to better address the needs of our community. We’re excited to be an early partner with Autodesk in using Spark, the open platform to better connect digital content and the hardware.”
