World-renowned for its manufacture of sport aircraft, Czech company Evektor-Aerotechnik has become a top European manufacturer of ultralight and small planes. Two of its most popular aircraft include the Eurostar, a light aircraft that has been sold to more than 800 pilots in 30 countries worldwide, and the SportStar, the first aircraft on the market to receive the US FAA Special Airworthiness Certificate in the Special Light Sport Aircraft category.
Founded in 1991, Evektor has over 17 years experience as an engineering firm specializing in aircraft, automotive and consumer goods design. Over the years, Evektor has added to its company by acquiring the company Aerotechnik CZ, which decidedly shifted the emphasis of its business to the aircraft business. Although Evektor still operates the design side of the business, today there is more focus on aerospace and automotive design.
Femap appealed to Evektor for a number of reasons. Its price-performance ratio coupled with its functionality were big sellers. Other features include its ease of use, making it easy to control the way data is viewed in postprocessing. Plus, the ability to create user-defined functions in Femap’s application programming interface, allows users to use data that Femap processes in other applications. In addition, Evektor uses the NX digital product development system from Siemens to create digital models of its aircraft.
Currently, Evektor’s designers have eight licenses of Femap for the development of aircraft, making them the largest group of Femap users in the CzechRepublic.
