Fujitsu Launches Virtual Product and Process Simulator

The solution supports product assembly process studies with 3D models, the company states.

Fujistu has launched the FUJITSU Manufacturing Industry Solution VPS (Virtual Product and Process Simulator). The tool supports product assembly process studies with 3D models.

This new version now offers configuration blocks, which by displaying component parts as shape images when incorporating product design CAD configurations into VPS assembly configurations, and expressing in a chart the relationships between the units, enables visual editing of assembly sequences, the company states. This also makes it easier to use 3D data in production preparation tasks.

VPS is a software package that covers the entire process of production preparation, using 3D model data of products created in CAD tools for product reviews, process reviews when assembling products, production line layout reviews and creating documents used in manufacturing, in order to support starting mass production.

This version includes:

  • support for assembly configuration creation and design changes;
  • improved display performance;
  • increased accuracy in production line workflow path considerations; and
  • enhanced viewing functionality.
According to Fujitsu, updates have been made so that CAD data changes are reflected in the VPS 1/100th the previously required processing time. Viewing options are also available for iOS and Android devices.
