Geometric Releases CAMWorks for Solid Edge 2014

New features include mill-turn capabilities and 5-Axis simultaneous machining.

Geometric Ltd. has shipped its 2014 version of CAMWorks for Solid Edge. This new version, the company states, enables tighter integration between the two programs so customers can reduce programming time.

With the 2014 version, Solid Edge users can access the full suite of CAMWorks modules such as Sync Manager and Sub Spindle operations manager for computer numerically controlled (CNC) programming. Additionally, tool and die customers can now program Wire EDM machines in the same environment for milling operations.

The program also has new mill-turn capabilities plus 5-Axis simultaneous and assembly-mode machining. This allows for users to create tool paths while avoiding fixtures, clamps and other work-holding devices.

“CAMWorks for Solid Edge provides powerful machining solutions that are easy to use, and that enable our customers to get products to market faster and more efficiently,” said Dan Staples, vice president, Solid Edge Product Development, Siemens PLM Software. “We are committed to strengthening the Solid Edge partner ecosystem and are encouraged to see the same commitment from our partners to bring added-value to our user-base.”
