HP Launches Jet Fusion 3D Printing Solution

The portfolio is designed to 3D print at the voxel level, the company states.


Today at RAPID 2016, HP announced its Jet Fusion 3D Solution and software. It is suited for model shops and 3D printing service bureaus, the company states. HP’s solutions are designed to print at the voxel level to bring more effective part properties and mass customization capabilities to additive manufacturing.

According to HP, the complete solution offers:

  • Simplified workflow
  • Delivery of final parts
  • Open materials and software to harbor adoption
As part of the total solution, HP has announced the Jet Fusion 3D 3200 and 4200, which are designed for short-run manufacturing needs, improved productivity and lower cost per part, a press release states.

Available materials include thermoplastics such as PA 12 and Nylon. HP has also partnered with Arkema, BASF, Evonik and Lehmann  & Voss to develop a materials and software open platform to generate more certified materials for its systems.

“Our 3D printing platform is unique in its ability to address over 340 million voxels per second, versus one point at a time, giving our prototyping and manufacturing partners radically faster build speeds, functional parts and breakthrough economics,” said Stephen Nigro, president of HP’s 3D printing business. “The new HP Jet Fusion 3D Printing Solution delivers a combination of speed, quality, and cost never seen in the industry.  Businesses and manufacturers can completely rethink how they design and deliver solutions to their customers.”

Beyond materials, HP is also partnering with Autodesk, Materials and Siemens. In partnering with Siemens, the software will help create a complete 3D printing workflow that is suitable for production. The goal is to develop a software program to help engineers input data and quickly design and manage CAD/CAE/PLM programs. “We need new design tools,” says Nigro. “What we’re doing is having a roadmap of new voxel-level technologies.”

They will be able to print assembly components as one part with varying characteristics, saving time and money while reducing the chance of manufacturing errors. These new capabilities will change how parts are made but more importantly how products are envisioned.”
