One Stop Systems (OSS) has introduced its first PCIe Gen3 expansion appliance to support up to 16 high-end accelerator boards. The High Density Compute Accelerator adds 73.3 Tflops of computational power using sixteen NVIDIA Tesla K10 GPUs. The user simply connects the cable or cables to the host server(s), and has hundreds or thousands of additional compute cores readily available, according to the company.
 
It consists of the rack-mount chassis, three modular power supplies,  four pre-loaded canisters, and the front bezel. The power supplies and the canisters slide into the front of the chassis and the front bezel snaps into place. One to four servers are then cabled to the rear of the enclosure. Each connection operates at Gen3 speeds of 128Gb/s.
 
Each canister is equipped with four PCIe x16 Gen3 slots that operate up to 128Gb/s each. While the enclosure supports any type of PCIe card,  for convenience the canisters are provided pre-loaded with four Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors or NVIDIA Tesla K10 or K20 GPUs. An intake fan is located on the front of each canister, directing ambient air through the canister. The canister slides into the enclosure and plugs into the backplane at the rear of the enclosure.

An internal system monitor provides system operation data, including fan operation, voltages, and temperature at several points in the enclosure. A remote interface is provided through the Ethernet port on the rear of the enclosure. An optional IPMI module is available for operators who wish to collect system data through the IPMI bus.
