PNY Technologies, Inc. (Parsippany, NJ) announced a full line of I/O SATA cards for desktop and notebook computers that provide an affordable solution for adding high performance SATA, SATA II, and eSATA connectivity to the user’s PC.

Desktop users gain the new PCI Express interface or the legacy PCI form factor, while notebook users can choose between the new ExpressCard interface or the legacy CardBus form factor. These advances in I/O connectivity increase the amount of available computing and I/O bandwidth, resulting in faster music downloads, smoother streaming video, and lighting-fast access to mass storage devices.

All the cards benefit from PNY’s simple plug-and-play installation as well as support the latest Windows Vista operating system. Moreover, PNY’s desktop cards support RAID functionality, while its notebook cards have dual, external ports for even more flexible connectivity.

PNY Technologies I/O SATA card family includes The SATA II RAID 2-Channel PCI Express Card, for desktop users, which is able to connect a maximum of two SATA hard drives to any of the four connectors (either two internal or two external) via jumpers to the desktop computer. The card supports hot-plugging, Native Command Queing (NCQ) and data transfer rates of up to 300MBps (MSRP: $49.99).

The SATA RAID 2-Channel PCI Card, also for desktop users, supports data transfer rates of up to 150MBps, hot-plugging and NCQ. This card allows users to connect up to two, large-capacity SATA hard disk drives to a desktop (MSRP: $49.99).

The eSATA II 2-Port Express Card, for notebook computers, is designed to take advantage of the additional bandwidth and features provided by the new ExpressCard I/O interconnection standard. It supports hot-plugging on an external SATA port and NCQ (MSRP: $69.99).

An the eSATA 2-Port CardBus Adapter, also for notebook computers, provides increased performance with any external storage devices, as much as three times the data transfer rate of the USB 2.0. Plus, the adapter, incorporated into the new eSATA connector, provides secured cable connection and improved durability. The card supports SATA data transfer rates of up to 150MBps (MSRP: $59.99).
