With the maintenance release of ICEM Surf 4.7.2, ICEM (Southampton, UK) is providing an update of ICEM Surf and including a few bug fixes.

ICEM Surf 4.7 includes new and improved geometric modeling functions, as well as enhancements in visualization providing new capabilities for digital reviews, in real time. New geometric functions include possibilities for global modeling of complex surface and curve topologies.

In bug fixes, ICEM Surf has no more display errors when function windows under MS Windows are closed. A bugfix in curve trimming has been introduced: it was impossible to trim when the limitation was ending on the curve. Third, ICEM Surf no longer terminates when special characters are entered in text fields via a German character set. And the performance of the deviation diagnosis has been improved. Other bugs of ICEM Surf 4.7 were fixed with the maintenance release 4.7.1. There emphasis was on the stability of the Matching Profile and Addenda functions. Other bug fixes include Plot function, Reference Manager, and Facing.

In 4.7.2, the “volume” modeling function places the reference geometry inside a 3D cube and enables global manipulation and deformation of the model, allowing rapid variant and “what if” scenarios. With the implementation of G3 or “torsion” matching in the Global Blend, Curve Blend, and within Unified Modeling the Transition command, ICEM Surf 4.7 provides a significant increase in the quality across boundaries.

New functionality for extensive algorithmic enhancements have been made providing improved control of order, segmentation, and smoothing of surfaces and curves in all areas of creation and modification.
