Icron Technologies has launched its new ExtremeLink family of keyboard, video, mouse (KVM) extenders that combine HD video and USB 2.0 peripheral support for remote desktop applications.

KVM extenders allow computers to be located remotely from the user.

The ExtremeLink series consists of the ExtremeLink 3500, which features a reach of up to 1,640 ft. over a Cat 5 cable for connectivity, and the ExtremeLink 4500 that  supports local area network (LAN)  connectivity.  Both models deliver DVI graphics up to 1680x1050 (WSXGA)  resolution.  Each ExtremeLink product incorporates Icron’s ExtremeUSB technology that supports the USB 1.1 and 2.0 devices.

“The ExtremeLink product line offers a strong value proposition by delivering high quality video over long distances via Cat 5 and true USB 2.0 support over LAN,” says Brian Donnelly, vice president of Marketing and Business Development. “The core of the platform is Icron’s new video processing engine that produces consistent high resolution, superior picture quality, and low latency over distance, providing our customers long distance support previously only achievable via expensive Fiber Optic products.”

In addition to HD video support, the ExtremeLink series of products supports USB 2.0 devices such as keyboards, mice, webcams, flash drives,  speakers, microphones, touchscreens, and other USB 1.1 and 2.0 devices.
