Infolytica Corporation (Montreal, QC, Canada) released two software packages, MotorSolve for IM and SRM, the company’s new electric motor design software for induction machines and switched reluctance machines.

MotorSolve IM and SRM share the same modern and intuitive interface as MotorSolve BLDC. The adaptable rotor and stator templates use a validation mechanism that verifies each change to the global design. MotorSolve is streamlined to help guide users through the creation process for creating any induction machine or switched reluctance motor for extensive study in MagNet.

The company also released updates to MotorSolve BLDC and MagNet, which is the industry’s first electromagnetic (EM) field simulation software based on FEA, is most commonly used for designing a wide range of devices such as motors, transformers, induction heating, and other electromechanical applications in numerous industries.

The new version of MotorSolve BLDC and MagNet feature an improved core loss calculation method that computes the hysteresis plus the anomalous and eddy current losses in the lamination and presents them to the user as two separate fields. In a simulation, the new core loss calculation method for eddy currents takes different harmonics into account and, for hysteresis loss, it takes into account the minor loops.

MagNet 6.26 and MotorSolve BLDC, SRM and IM are available for PCs running 32-bit or 64-bit Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
