New relational inspection architecture analyzes steps in part measurement workflow.

InnovMetric Software Inc. has unveiled its relational inspection solution with PolyWorks V12. The PolyWorks relational inspection architecture analyzes every single step in a part measurement workflow, according to the company, with the purpose of constructing a logical representation of the operator’s intent using objects, parameters, and relationships between objects. Rebuilt on top of this new relational foundation, PolyWorks V12 offers technical capabilities in the world of 3D metrology software. InnovMetric Software will demonstrate PolyWorks V12 at EuroMold 2011 from November 29 to December 2 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Part inspection projects and reports, measured either by a point cloud digitizer, contact-based probing device, or both, can be modified and automatically updated in real time.

Thanks to DirectReplay technology, a part inspection project and report can be created for a first piece, then automatically replayed with subsequent pieces. Starting with the second piece, users need only acquire 3D measurement data of the new piece, using either a point cloud digitizer, contact-based probing device, or both. The automatic project updater takes care of updating the inspection results for the new piece.

No teaching mode needs to be invoked in PolyWorks V12 to prepare an inspection project for a multi-piece inspection task. There is no Record button, no operation history tree, nor any program. You can create a part inspection project or modify an existing one without caring about the next piece. And initiate the measurement of a new piece at any given time.

The inspection results of multiple pieces can be stored under the umbrella of a single project, saving disk space and accelerating project opening and saving operations. In addition, the SPC database holding multi-piece statistics is globally shared and can be accessed at any time. PolyWorks V12 projects can handle multiple CAD models, multiple parts, and multiple part alignments at once. Individual report items can also be linked to specific part alignments and coordinate systems for total reporting flexibility.
