Handhelds andsmart phones are pretty cool and convenient, but have you ever really tried tosurf the Web, look at a high-res photo, or read a document on one? Your eyeshurt after just a few short minutes.

Intel Corp. (Santa Clara, CA)is hoping to change all that with Atom, a new line of super small super fastchips with special graphics processing for mobile devices, most of which focuson the Internet.

Intel is giving hints that it may launch some high-poweredmobile devices of its own, and may be eyeing everything from phone-size units tofull-featured mini-laptops.

I doubt that these babies could be used forhardcore design work, but with enough graphics oomph, you may be able to atleast review drawings while on the go.

The Atom chips are supposed to be realmisers when it comes to batteries, but big on 3D graphics. And at 1.86GHz, theyain’t too shabby on overall processing.
