Kontron (Poway, CA) unveiled its OM5080 MicroTCA integrated platform, a 2U off-the-shelf platform that the company says achieves an industry-first by accommodating up to 8 AMCs within the most space-efficient and cost-optimized design. This new open modular solution is suited for telecom equipment manufacturers who need to design redundant systems without any single point of failure for edge and access applications used in data center, regional CO, and enterprise networks.

In addition, Kontron and Astute Networks announced a technology partnership to develop platform solutions intended for support of HLR/ HSS, IPTV and IMS network applications.
