Kontron (Poway, CA)  announced its latest range of 2U and 4U KISS industrial servers that bring Intel CoreT2 Duo processor performance to PICMG 1.0 based PCI/ISA applications. These long-term, ultra quiet (less than 35dB) industrial servers are designed for applications that require high data-processing performance without the need for high-speed PCI Express features.

The company says the Kontron KISS PCI 759 industrial servers will be available in September 2008.

Designed around the Intel 945G chipset with 1066MHz front side bus and Intel ICH7 I/O controller hub, the Kontron KISS PCI-759 industrial servers in various rack-mount heights (2U and 4U) offer scalable processor performance based on the Intel LGA 755 socket up to the E6400 (2 x 2.16GHz) Intel Core2 Duo processor. Support for up to 4GB of DDR2 dual channel RAM boosts performance further. With a thermal design power (TDP) of only 65 Watts, the Intel Core2 Duo processor brings double the performance with power consumption similar to an Intel Pentium 4 processor. The Kontron KISS PCI759 servers are suitable for upgrading existing applications or implementing new, power-sensitive industrial PCI/ISA systems.

The Kontron KISS PCI 759 servers can accommodate a large number and variety of PCI and/or ISA based extension boards. Plus, the Kontron KISS PCI759 industrial servers offer a full range of I/O interfaces: up to 4 x 3Gbps SATA II for fast hard drive access, 2 x GbE, 7 x USB 2.0, one parallel and two serial interfaces. Kontron also offers assemblies for LAN, WLAN, and SCSI.

The integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (Intel GMA 950) supports VGA resolutions up to 2048x1536. There is 24-bit LCDS via DVO that supports resolutions up to 1600x1200. An integrated onboard socket for a Compact Flash module makes it possible to build maintenance-free systems without rotating nonvolatile storage.

The KISS systems come with either a desktop housing or a housing for mounting in a 19-inch cabinet. The lockable front panel offers IP5x protection. Designed for continuous operation, they are CE certified, UL suitable, and support Linux,  Windows Vista, and Windows XP software packages. The Kontron KISS PCI 759 servers are available as preconfigured standard systems or can be customized.
