Kubotek Releases Spectrum 6.5, 2 in a Series

By DE Editors

Kubotek USA, Inc. (Marlborough, MA; kubotekusa.com) has announced Kubotek Spectrum 6.5, its software for reviewing 3D models and drawings without having to learn or install a full-featured CAD system. Kubotek Spectrum supports view manipulation, printing, 3D shading, measurement (distance, area and volume), and publishing HOOPS-enabled HTML files without overwriting the original file.

Kubotek Spectrum gives you the ability to measure any size, distance, area, or volume (solids); hide levels (layers) and parts; pan, zoom, rotate, and render functions; rotate display to stored view orientations; and verify entity attributes and positions. You can split your document window into two to four separate viewports, and open multiple files simultaneously. In addition to printing or plotting files, you can export to such formats as Adobe PDF, TIFF, HPGL/2, and HOOPS Metafile.

New capabilities in Version 6.5 include the ability to export Adobe PDF 3D and U3D and import SolidWorks files with expanded support for SolidWorks 2007. Version 6.5 also gives you the ability to drag and drop for rendering materials and properties as well as to set transparency on file references. The company says that version 6.5 offers improved rendering of STL models, expanded cutting plane functionality, and that the Verify Area and Centroid functionality have been made faster.

Kubotek Spectrum comes in two versions. Spectrum Lite is the no-charge version for reading Kubotek KeyCreator and Cadkey formats. The full Spectrum version also reads AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA V4, Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, and UGS NX.

Price: $695; upgrades to Kubotek Spectrum are $195. For more, visit kubotekusa.com.
