Océ (Trumbull, CT), a Canon Group Company, recently announced the launch of its new Océ ColorWave 650 large-format printing system. Océ says that the Océ ColorWave 650 prints up to 50% faster than its predecessor, the Océ ColorWave 600,  and that users can manage, print, and share documents from their desk through a web browser. The system, which builds on the company’s Océ CrystalPoint technology, provides users a single device to print and copy technical documents in black and white and color.

“The new Océ ColorWave 650 is unmatched in its ability to produce both black and white and color documents on a single machine efficiently,” said Sal Sheikh, Vice President, Marketing, Wide Format Printing Systems, Océ North America, in a press statement. “Technical document users will benefit from the ability to replace multiple printing systems and reduce turn-around time—leading to overall increased efficiency and an optimized capital investment.”

The 42-in. wide Océ ColorWave 650 printer, the company reports, can print in black and white and color at speeds of up to 210 D-size prints per hour. The system can hold up to six media rolls, with each roll containing up to 650 ft. of media. Prints come out dry, cut to size, and ready to use, according to the company. When equipped an optional online folder, different folded packages can be prepared and printed from the desktop.

The Océ ColorWave 650 is said to simplify routine tasks, enabling knowledge workers to work intuitively, saving time and reducing mistakes. Users can define up to five copy and scan templates with their most common settings,  minimizing the need to click through endless menus. The system can be set-up to copy, scan, or print at the touch of a button.

Océ says its Océ CrystalPoint technology provides the Océ ColorWave 650 printer with the ability to produce sharp lines, high readability of fine details, and smooth,  even area fills. The Océ ColorWave 650 system uses solid Océ  TonerPearls toner to deliver robust, water-fast color prints on plain paper, according to Océ. Océ TonerPearls toner cartridges are free of fine dust, odorless, and require minimal waste disposal. Additional features include toner crystallization that ensures strong adhesion to any media and the absence of toner feathering for greater accuracy.

The Océ ColorWave 650 system has eight imaging devices, two per color, that move across the media at high speed, jetting the toner gel onto the media. The company describes the imaging devices as durable, which, it says, help, ensure output quality remains the same over time. The Océ ColorWave 650 can be integrated with the Océ TC4 Large Format Color Scanner for extended multifunction capability.
