LMI Technologies Launches FlexScan3D Software Update

Major upgrades include live scanning and automated mesh alignment.

LMI Technologies, a developer of 3D scanning, measurement and inspection equipment, has released the latest version of it FlexScan3D software. The platform powers the HDI 3D scanners that capture high-resolution 3D digital models. Some updates include independence photogrammetry marker exposer and motion control plug-ins.

Major developments for version 3.3.2 include:

  • Live Scanning: this feature can trigger a new scan automatically once the scan target is placed in a new position. This, according to the company, simplifies the 3D scanning process by eliminating the need for users to move back and forth between scanner and computer to create a full 3D model.
  • Automated Mesh Geometry Alignment: enables users to automatically align two scans, even if they are not close in proximity or are in two different orientations.
“At LMI, we believe in making 3D technologies like 3D scanning more accessible,” said Terry Arden, CEO of LMI Technologies. “3D scanning can be perceived as a specialized skill that is difficult to learn and master. The new version of FlexScan3D puts those who are new to 3D scanning at ease by automating various steps in the process, making 3D scanning much easier and more intuitive for users from capturing scans to building a 3D model.”
