LulzBot Unveils New Multi-Tool Heads for 3D Printing

The technology supports multi-material and multi-color printing.

LulzBot, an open source hardware company, has unveiled two new products for the TAZ 3D printer. The Dual Extruder and FlexyDuallay Tool Heads enable advanced users to print two different colors of the same material, or two different types of material.

The Dual Extruder can heat up to 464 °F and handle materials such as PLA (polylactic acid), ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), HIPS, PVA, LayBrick and more. The FlexyDually Tool Heads feature one standard tool head and a second Flexystruder tool head that allows users to print with filaments such as NinjaFlex.

“The LulzBot FlexyDually Tool Head has enabled me to solve some complicated mechanical problems using 3D printing and also develop some interesting creations. Fusing rubber-like and rigid plastic together opens up many possibilities for manufacturing compliant joints for robotics, prosthetics and prop building — it really pushes the envelope in 3D printing innovation!” James Bruton, Founder of XRobots.
