Magma Launches HPC Offering

Company will offer Gen 3 GPU expansion products.

Magma announced the company is entering into a new business segment with the addition of high performance computing (HPC) products, specifically Gen 3 GPU expansion products. Magma will target its initial Gen 3 products toward performance-oriented markets housing performance driven cards, including GPUs from NVIDIA, Intel and AMD, as well as other high end PCI Express (PCIe) peripherals.

“The GPU expansion market is one of the most exciting and fastest growing segment of the PCIe expansion market, and with the market transition to Gen 3, we have the opportunity to couple our core expertise with PCI Express with tuned solutions that provide the power and cooling necessary for this market,” said Jim Medeiros, senior manager of business development at Magma.

The initial offering, the ExpressBox 3600, provides a high availability solution with N+1 hot swappable power supplies, comprehensive cooling up to 300W per slot, included network management, and state-of-the-art Gen 3 PCIe x16 processing interconnect.

“With the entrance into the HPC market, we are equipping high performance computing with high-speed PCIe expertise and mission critical reliability to reach a wide array of business segments, including health and life sciences, weather forecasting, financial markets, energy exploration, defense and more,” said Tim Miller, president of Magma. “These advancements will help establish Magma as the new standard in flexible, high performance computing.”
