MakerBot Ships Replicator Mini Compact 3D Printer

The desktop printer is equipped with a 3.5 in. LCD screen, a camera and cloud support.

MakerBot is now shipping its Replicator Mini Compact 3D Printer, a fifth generation desktop printer.

With the Replicator, users can download printable items from Thingiverse or the MakerBot digital store and create items. Designs can also be made with the MakerBot PrintShop tablet application.

Enabled with a build volume of 9.9 x 7.8 x 5.9 inches, the Replicator prints with a 100 layer micron resolution, is cloud enabled and optimized for MakerBot’s polylactic acid (PLA) filament. It includes a 3.5 inch LCD display, attached camera, mobile control abilities and a smart extruder for easy filament replacement.

“We see the MakerBot Replicator Mini as a turning point in the 3D printing industry,” said Bre Pettis, CEO of MakerBot. “Much like the transition of the computer moving into the home 30 years ago, the MakerBot Replicator Mini is one of the first 3D printers to shift from the office to the home. We’re excited to have the MakerBot Replicator 3D Printing Platform and our Fifth Generation 3D printing technology inspire creativity and innovation in adults and children alike.”

The Replicator Mini Compact 3D Printer has a starting price of $1,375 and is available online or through designated retail stores.
