Materialise has released of a new version of its free software for the inspection and compression of STL files, MiniMagics 2. It is designed to made rapid product development project communication easier.

MiniMagics 2 allows accurate measurements to be taken using points, lines, circles, and planes. View options now include shade, wireframe,  shade and wire, triangle, and transparent.

For users operating in organizations that require installations to be carried out by a system administrator, MiniMagics2 offers a silent server installation option. This enables a system administrator to quickly get the software installed.

MiniMagics 2 allows project information to be communicated with annotations. The STL file can be compressed by up to a factor of 20,  according to the company, and exchanged with other MiniMagics2 and Magics users.

MiniMagics is the freeware component of the Magics e-Solution Suite, which is designed to boost efficiency of rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing setups.
