Mellanox Technologies announced that its end-to-end, FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand interconnect solutions provide improved performance for applications running over Intel’s new Xeon processor E5-2600 v2 product family. Applications running on the combined solutions demonstrate more than 30 percent better performance, the company says.

Mellanox FDR 56Gb/s InfiniBand solutions, consisting of ConnectX and Connect-IB InfiniBand adapters, SwitchX-based switch systems, cables and software, combined with the new processor from Intel, have demonstrated application performance increases versus the previous Intel processor generation. According to the company, these improvements include a 35 percent performance increase for the LINPACK benchmark over a 16-node cluster; 32 percent performance increase for the NAMD; 26 percent for GROMACS; and a 27 percent performance increase for ICON, a weather and atmospheric simulation software.
