TopSolid’Split 7.7 from Missler Software  is a new extension of TopSolid’Design, which the company says allows toolmakers to increase their productivity by giving them the means to easily define and design core cavity blocks from an imported 3D plastic part, or directly designed in TopSolid’Design.

Once the model has been imported in TopSolid’Design, TopSolid’Split enables the user to prepare the part to be injected by quickly analyzing the draft angles of the model (detection of vertical faces and undercut faces) and by globally or differentially controlling the shrinkage factor related to the material used. TopSolid’Split also automatically determines the best parting lines, while leaving the user free to redefine them locally, when passing over a face, for example.

The new module provides intelligent wizards to automatically generate shut off surfaces and external parting surfaces. The extension will be officially available in the software in January 2013.
