Pointwise, Inc. (Fort Worth, TX; pointwise.com) has released its next-generation CFD (computational fluid dynamics) meshing software for beta testing. The new CFD meshing software, also called Pointwise, will eventually replace the company’s widely deployed Gridgen software.
Gridgen generates structured, unstructured, and hybrid meshes. It interfaces with such CFD solvers as FLUENT, STAR-CD, and ANSYS CFX as well as many neutral formats like CGNS. Gridgen also has a scripting language that can automate CFD meshing.
The new Pointwise meshing software features a cross-platform user interface said to be comfortable for new users and customizable by experienced users. The new software also contains new tools such as Undo, Redo, automatic grid assembly, and support for 64-bit operating systems.

Beta testing will continue until Pointwises first production release, which is currently planned for summer 2007. Both Gridgen and Pointwise will be available for production use during the transition period, after which time Gridgen will be retired. For details, visit pointwise.com.
