New Features in ADINA 8.4

The latest release of ADINA, an acronym for automatic dynamic incremental nonlinear analysis, includes new features, including a new iterative solver for higher-order elements in the analysis of solids and new algorithm solution options. ADINA version 8.4, from Adina RandD (Watertown, MA), is the latest in the company’s finite element system for structures, heat transfer, and CFD.

According to the company, ADINA seeks to provide one finite element program system that can be used to perform comprehensive finite element analyses of structures, fluids, and fluid-structure interactions.

In the latest version there is a new Total Load Application algorithm with which ADINA increments the load in a total applied load without specifying solution strategy parameters, and a new 3D Rigid Target Contact Algorithm which includes possible frictional effects. 

In CFD improvements, users will note an improved solver, an ability to use multiple reference frames, new turbulence models for solving unsteady separated flow, and an improved Nastran interface. There is also now Nastran model file export capability.
