New Release of XVL Studio Enhances Use of 3D Model Data

Lattice Technology announced XVL Studio version 12.1 for 3D model data sharing. The lightweight solution provides model sharing that is associated to the native CAD model, and can be used for assembly process planning, work instructions, technical illustrations,  electronic spare part catalogs and service portals.

“With this release, we continue to make our products easier to use and more powerful,” said Bill Barnes, general manager, Lattice Technology. “Our goal is to make it easy for users from multiple disciplines to leverage their 3D CAD data using XVL. For instance, interactive 3D models can be used by manufacturing engineers to quickly and easily model the assembly process. These models can also be used by writers to create clear documentation and by service engineers to create maintenance documentation or create interactive Web pages for ordering spare parts. This latest release of XVL Studio delivers new capabilities that improve productivity in all of these areas.”

This new release  of the work instruction feature set automates collision avoidance in assembly and disassembly path creation. Additionally, automatic “camera positioning” shows each process step clearly, saving time for users who design these processes, the company says. The new release also supports 3Dconnexion’s 3D mouse products.

XVL Studio v12.1 now fully supports the 3D PDF format bi-directionally with import and export capabilities. Another feature that has been updated is the interactive “snapshot.” Using this tool, a user can capture and annotate a specific view and send it to another stakeholder. This stakeholder can access the view and still have interactive access to the model.
