One of several new functions of Version 2.0 of the VariCAD 3D/2D CAD system, which has just been released by VariCAD s.r.o. (Liberec, Czech Republic) is its availability in both 32- and 64-bit versions.

The CAD software enables designers to create, evaluate, and modify their models using VariCAD’s graphical user interface (GUI), designed to allow quick and intuitive 3D/2D orientation.

In addition to tools for 3D modeling and 2D drafting and dimensioning, the CAD system provides libraries of standard mechanical parts (ANSI, DIN),  calculations of standard mechanical components, and tools for working with bills of materials (BOM) and blocks.

Other new features in V2.0 include a 2D drawing editor that works in 3D space, for editing solid profiles and creation of new solids using profile rotation,  extrusion etc., as well as providing access to 3D solids; improvements in working with colors and color settings in 2D drawing, and in 3D display and objects selection.

VariCAD can interchange files with other CAD systems. You can import STEP (3D), DWG (2D), DXF (2D) and IGES (2D) files, and export STEP (3D), STL (3D), IGES (3D and 2D), DWG (2D), DXF (2D). The files can be converted individually or in batch routines, thereby converting multiple files in one step. Plus, printing within VariCAD is customizable and you can use Windows or KDE Linux printer drivers, or VariCAD built-in drivers.

Trial versions of this 3D/2D CAD system are fully functional for a limited period of time for both Windows and Linux.

Download a free 30-day trial version to evaluate or contact VariCAD for further information.
