Omega Engineering, Inc. (Stamford, CT) released the USB-4751 (48 bit) and USB-4751L (24-bit), described as easy-to-use and efficient digital I/O modules for the USB bus that support both wet or dry contacts as inputs.

The 48/24 bits are divided into six/three 8-bit I/O ports (each port is software programmable as input or output). These modules also provide one event counter and three 16-bit timers that canbe cascaded to become a 32-bit timer.

The USB-4751 and USB-4751L are portable modules, and can be DIN rail mounted. Modules obtain all required power from the USB port, so no external power connection is required. Data collection is simple with Omega user-friendly Windows software, which can convert your PC into a real-time strip chart recorder with printing capability, or exported to a text or Microsoft file. Recommended applications include monitoring on/off inputs or activating devices in industrial applications. The USB-4751 and USB-4751L are suited for chemical,  petrochemical, and other manufacturing industries. The product is CE compliant. Price starts at $135.
