PartMaker Inc.  announced that the latest version of its PartMaker suite of CAM products, Version 8, has been awarded Certified CAM Product status by SolidWorks for having demonstrated interoperability with SolidWorks 3D CAD software through meeting testing and technical review.

PartMaker,  a subsidiary of Delcam Plc, is the first product in the Delcam family of products to achieve Certified CAM Partner status. Version 8 offers improvements to the system’s functionality, in 3D simulation, handling of solid models, and optimization of 3D surface machining operations. PartMaker Version 8 also marks the introduction of the optional PartMaker Full Machine Simulation module that allows users to view a photorealistic 3D model of the machine for which they are programming a part.

PartMaker users can directly import SolidWorks files in their native *.SLDPRT format, as well as other solids formats supported by SolidWorks. PartMaker Version 8 makes working with imported solid models more productive than ever before. Machining Profiles are automatically extracted from parts with a single mouse click.

PartMaker,  a knowledge-based machining system, provides a gain in programming efficiency by remembering the tools, material, and process information necessary to machine individual part features, relieving users from reentering the same features information for subsequent parts. By placing the emphasis on tool management functions, productivity is improved as well.
