Post-Processor Tailored for CFD Users

Computational Engineering International (CEI; Apex, NC) has released EnSight CFD, a new application for analyzing, visualizing, and communicating CFD (computational fluid dynamics) results. EnSight CFD leverages the same graphics and rendering engine found in the company’s flagship EnSight 9 visualization and postprocessing application suite, but it offers a user interfaced streamlined for CFD users.

CEI says that EnSight CFD’s interface is designed to allow you to explore your data interactively and postprocess and visualize a model using only your mouse. To do this, the company has tied many common functions to the computer’s mouse buttons—for example, right-click menus bring up context-sensitive options.

EnSight CFD also offers readers for such analysis packages as FLUENT and CFX. These readers automatically add a series of derived variables based on explicit dataset files. This means that quantities such radial velocity, pressure gradient, mach number, and others are available to you automatically, eliminating the need to create these quantities manually.

EnSight CFD contains a calculator function for calculating frequently used formulas such as mass flow average, mass flow rates, and in/max values. Other features include the ability to read, explore and plot data;  create iso-surfaces and particle traces; and add annotations. Images can be rotated, panned, and zoomed as well as exported as movies or 3D models.

EnSight CFD supports 32-bit and 64-bit Windows systems, and Mac OS X and Linux versions are under development. Availability is immediate. For complete details, visit the EnSight CFD web page.
