Presentation Media Inc. (PMI) has launched DEPTH, an additive manufacturing (AM) service bureau. The organization entered the AM industry in 2007 and serves aerospace and other high-tech industries. PMI offers rapid prototyping and modeling services.
Along with this service expansion, the company has purchased a 3D Systems ProJet 3510 professional printer. With a build envelope of 11.75 x 7.3 x 8 in., the system is designed for models, high-definition patterns and precision casting. This device, according to the company, allows system portability and can capture images at client sites. The projects are then completed at DEPTH.
“Additive manufacturing revolutionizes product development much the same way robotics forever changed the assembly line,” said Nathan Nielson, CEO, PMI. “3D [printing] connotes immediacy, creativity and flexibility. What was once considered wishful thinking is now a reality for product designers. 3D [printing] was, until recently, the exclusive domain of science and engineering. Today, it’s found a new home in the marketing department.
