Océ North America (Trumbull, CT) has announced the launched the Océ ColorWave 300, calling it the first single footprint, multifunction system that can print, copy, and scan wide-format documents in both color and black and white. These attributes are said to make the ColorWave 300 an ideal alternative to conventional wide-format toner systems for engineering and other companies with limited floor space. Additionally, because it consolidates multiple devices into one system, the ColorWave 300 simplifies supply requirements and IT support resources, according to Océ.
The ColorWave 300 offers automatic original and media size recognition as well as image positioning features that help avoid misprints and reduce waste. Since it uses thermal inkjet technology, it does not produce ozone, dust or odors. All ColorWave 300 functions can be controlled from a single user panel, and users can print and scan documents from a USB flash drive. Popular file formats, including HPGL/2, PDF, DWF, and JPEG, are supported.
The ColorWave 300 measures 78 x 36 x 68 inches, including scanner, receiving tray, and user panel as well as an optional top delivery tray. Key print specifications include 600 x 600 dpi resolution, output width range of 11 to 36 inches, and output lengths from 8.5 inches to more than 147 feet. Scanning specifications include the ability to scan originals 8.2 to 36 inches wide at lengths ranging from 8.2 inches to 52.5 feet. Scan resolution is also 600 x 600 dpi, while scanning speeds range from up to 38 feet per minute (monochrome) and up to 13 feet per minute in color mode.
The ColorWave comes with the Océ Express WebTools job management tools. This single interface enables users to view and control the system with an Internet browser without additional software. Job management capabilities include monitoring and managing system status, settings, network configurations, and updates as well as a personal Smart Inbox for organizing print jobs.
