Have you ever wondered if you’ll become a senior citizen while waiting for your print/copy system to rouse itself from standby mode? Well, the days of idling by your print/copy system could be over. Today’s Check it Out link takes you to details on a new wide-format printing system that’s not just fast. It has instant print performance.

Canon Solutions America announced its new Océ PlotWave 450 large-format monochrome printing system last week. In the big picture, it seems well-suited for larger workgroups and copy shops that routinely print or copy big technical document runs and need to do so efficiently in both slow and chaotic times. It fits into your environment by being eco-benign, a low-heat generator and compact even with its top delivery tray. It’s really quiet: 24 dB(A) in standby/sleep mode and no noisy fans buzzing at you.

The cloud-enabled Océ PlotWave 450 printer has a lot of user-friendly features like a touchscreen with a tablet-like interface, one-click USB printing and a “What You See is What You Print” preview that shows you trouble spots before you waste some media. Its built-in roll loading station accommodates two to four rolls and is backed with intelligence to cut, size and detect media width automatically.

The Océ PlotWave 450 system also has software that helps you create, print and manage document sets as well as job submissions. A handy feature is that you can create one-touch scan templates for commonly used settings or to standardized scan settings. It comes with a bunch of security features like secure login or smart card support, e-shredding, IP filtering/access control lists and audit logging.

Still, the thing that will get you is that the Océ PlotWave 450 printer can get you an accelerated first print out from standby mode in 16 seconds (D-size/A1). For the most part, figure first print out will average a snappy 30 seconds, even when using its one-click USB printing feature. Speaking of which, print speeds are up to eight D-size/A1 pages per minute and four E-size/A0 pages per minute. Resolution is 600x1200 dpi; the optional color/mono scanner’s resolution is 600x600 dpi. It top stacks up to 100 E-size/A0 sheets.

Designed for larger workgroups and copy shops with heavy printing and copying loads, the Océ PlotWave 450 large-format monochrome printing system is offered with a suite of security options such as disk encryption, access management and a removable hard drive.
